Jessie Baxter

Jessie Baxter, Counsellor

Jessie grew up in Sydney Australia. At an early age she felt drawn to helping people, even at school she was always the one her friends talked to with their problems. She decided that counselling might be the way to go to develop these skills further and ended up doing a Bachelor of Counselling straight out of high school at Tabor College in Sydney Australia. After completing this degree she took a break and went traveling around South East Asia, volunteering with NGO’s and teaching English but counselling skills were very much in use in her various roles throughout this period and she became fascinated by holistic wellbeing and health in people’s lives.

After returning to Australia she started working as an Employment Consultant helping people work through barriers to gaining employment and becoming work ready, again this was an area where she was able to utilize her counselling skills and look at holistic health and wellbeing in people’s lives especially around employment and life skills.

In 2017 Jessie moved to Dundee, with her father and mother and started volunteering at Dundee Carers Centre as a counsellor for carers. As Jessie was assisting her father who was caring for her mother who has Dementia, she felt this was an area she could really assist people in. Since then she has now started working part time as a support worker with Dundee Carers Centre and is also volunteering at Hope Counselling Dundee and has her own private practice. She is also an individual member of BACP.

Jessie enjoys traveling and exploring new places, walks on the beach with her dog and coffee!
